Saving the World: Three Problems at a Time

Heading Towards Zero

“There is too much greenhouse gas in the air NOW! There is absolutely no advantage in having any more in the air, NOW! Our private targets should be to have no future emissions into the atmosphere. That's what we really need.
Philip Sutton, Melbourne Social Forum, conference, March 2007

If we are to save the future we must reduce atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations. One of the key ways we can do this is to stop putting more greenhouse gases into the atmosphere by aiming for zero emissions.

Achieving zero emissions will be a significant task requiring a restructuring of our society and involve everything from growing food, producing goods and services, creating and using energy, changing consumption patterns, creating new economic systems and reversing population growth.

In this section we look at how we can achieve zero or close to zero emissions in the areas of consumables and physical systems.
